I'm one of the crazies that chose the latter.
In my life I have been extremely fortunate.
I've had the pleasure of meeting some of the most wonderful people on the planet, been provided with a pair of the most loving and supportive parents, attended not one - but two highly regarded private art colleges, and have over the past few years grown enough proverbial 'ball mass' to pursue a career that has these other items on my list taking a step back and saying "What the f*ck!?".
Tattooing isn't my only passion though. Baking is awesome! I love experimenting and trying new recipes and techniques. I love the challenge and the reward of something tangible (and edible!). But I won't pretend like I'm a pro. In fact, that's far from the case. When I find a new recipe, each person that tries it gets an enthusiastic disclaimer:
"I KNOW IT'S UGLY. IF IT SUCKS I'M SORRY, I'VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE."
And that usually gets people to shrug their shoulders an eat it regardless of how visually unappealing it is. I must say that I have yet to find a recipe that has gotten me an "Oh my god, don't ever do this again." reaction. So I guess I'm doing alright so far.
I just started a new chapter in my life with a transition from tattoo apprentice to full-time artist, a loving man/personal dishwasher/recipe guinea pig, and a new city. With this I've decided to take more time to pursue this alternate passion of culinary curiosity. Each weekend I've made it a goal to try baking something new. This blog will show the good, you can bet lots of money that it will show the bad, and all the delicious messes in between.
I hope this becomes a source of inspiration for others who want to take a chance, do what you love, make time for yourself, and get your damn hands dirty! Submit your ugly, delicious delights! Let's all learn from each other, eat, and feel liberated that although we may be unrefined and a little left of center, we have something that many people spend their lives searching for and generally seem to fall short:
Passion.
Cheers!
